Learning Series Summary:
This four module learning series serves as a guide to effectively identify, evaluate, document, and treat Periodontal Disease Chairside. It also will include how the Periodontist, GP and RDH all work together to ensure positive outcomes when diagnosing and treating periodontal patients.
MODULE THREE: Successful Periodontal Management: A Collaborative Approach
Periodontal disease affects most of the population, yet a significant portion of patients are not identified as needing treatment. This course will examine the clinical and diagnostic criteria required for proper identification and referral of periodontal cases along with examining how medical conditions and overall health directly affect treatment outcomes. Finally, the vital role RDH plays in long term maintenance will be examined. This course will include the vantage point of the periodontist, as well as the hygienist and demonstrate how important communication is when treating a perio case and how successful the outcome is when working together.
- – Identify when it is time to refer to the periodontist
- – Discover medical conditions that would be contraindicated for certain periodontal procedures
- – Review surgical cases and RDHS role in the long-term success
This course is the third module within a four-part learning series. Attendees can register for all four modules or individual ones within this series a la carte. There are no prerequisite modules required. This course will not be recorded and shared for on-demand viewing. It is only available live during the scheduled date and time. Sam Shamardi DMD
Dr. Sam Shamardi earned his DMD at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Shamardi received his Periodontal certificate from the University of Pennsylvania. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and Implant Surgery and practices full-time while teaching part-time as a Clinical Instructor at the Harvard Dental Division of Periodontics.
Dr. Shamardi is the founder of Dental Innovations LLC, a company aimed at providing novel solutions to unaddressed issues within dentistry. He lectures nationally and internationally in topics within periodontics and hearing loss in dentistry and has published multiple articles while being recognized as a dental entrepreneur for his revolutionary EarAid product.
