Learning Series Summary:
While dental sleep medicine continues to be a hot topic, few are discussing how to make it actually work in practice. This three module learning series will not only give dentists the tools needed to begin screening patients but teach them the systems necessary to make sleep dentistry both profitable and fulfilling. By implementing the strategies discussed in these modules, attendees will build value with their existing patients while creating a referral source for new ones.

MODULE THREE: Streamlining the Systems and Troubleshooting Appliance Therapy for O.S.A.

In this final module, the concepts of the first two courses, will be tied together to give the participants confidence in building a successful sleep practice.  Many of the pitfalls and common problems with this therapy will be addressed and followed with a panel discussion for questions and answers. Following this program, dentists will be ready to start their journey towards saving lives while improving the quality of patient care.

    Ashley Brown

    Ashleyn Lyon Brown is the Sleep Care Coordinator for Advanced Sleep and TMJ Centers in the Myrtle Beach are of South Carolina. She began her career as a dental assistant but continued her education, graduating from dental laboratory school in Richmond Virginia. Ashley had been creating sleep appliances and various mouth guards when she found her passion in the field of sleep apnea. She then went on to become one of the first Certified Sleep Apnea Coordinators in the country, allowing her to aid in the delivery and adjustment of apnea appliances. Currently, Ashley is studying to become a Registered Polysomnography Sleep Technician to help bridge the gap between medical and dental offices and continue to spread more awareness about oral appliance therapy.

    Jeff Horowitz DMD FAGD D-ABDSM

    Dr. Horowitz completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Pittsburgh and earned his DMD degree from the Medical University of South Carolina. He completed a general practice residency at the Mountainside Hospital in Montclair, NJ. In 1992, Dr. Horowitz founded the Carolina Center for Cosmetic and Restorative Dentistry, a multi-disciplinary group practice. His main interests are cosmetic smile rehabilitation, complex restorative cases, treatment of sleep disordered breathing, orthodontics and TMJ disorders. An admitted C.E. “Junkie”, Dr. Horowitz has earned fellowship from the AGD where he is actively involved as a past-president and delegate for South Carolina. He serves as a mentor at the Kois Center for Advanced Dental Studies, is a key opinion leader and lecturer for the Catapult Group, and is an instructor for Sleep Group Solutions. His dental affiliations include the Pierre Fauchard Academy, the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, the American Orthodontic Society, the American Dental Association, the American Association of Dental Sleep Medicine, the Carolina Sleep Society, American Equilibration Society, and the American Academy of Craniofacial Pain.
