Learning Series Summary:
While dental sleep medicine continues to be a hot topic, few are discussing how to make it actually work in practice. This three module learning series will not only give dentists the tools needed to begin screening patients but teach them the systems necessary to make sleep dentistry both profitable and fulfilling. By implementing the strategies discussed in this modules, attendees will build value with their existing patients while creating a referral source for new ones.

MODULE TWO: Protocols and Systems for Effective and Profitable Sleep Apnea Therapy

While many dentists test the waters of dental sleep medicine, very few understand the necessary systems for making it profitable and fun. In this module, the ‘rubber meets the road” for creating a dental sleep medicine practice within your practice. From screening to follow up, participants will understand the roles, rules, and responsibilities for treating patients with obstructive sleep apnea.

    Dr. Gene Santucci is an Associate Professor in the Department of Preventive and Restorative Dentistry at the University of the Pacific Dugoni School of Dentistry, San Francisco, CA where he is co-director of the Dental Sleep Mini-Residency Program, Content Coordinator for Sleep Medicine. He also holds a Masters Degree in Educational Psychology and Counseling.

    Dr. Santucci has presented nationally and internationally on the topics of Dental Sleep Medicine, ADHD in Children and Sleep Related Disorders, Occlusion, Aesthetics, Temporomandibular Disorders, Photography, Functional Anatomy of the Gnathostomatic System and the Fabrication and Delivery of Night Guards. He is a published author contributing to numerous articles in refereed journals and abstracts along with a Task Force Report regarding sleep medicine, course content in dental education. His text book contributions include: Patient Examinations in an Esthetic Dentistry Practice, Headache and Facial Pain.

    Dr. Santucci has been awarded membership in the following associations: Fellow, American College of Dentists, Fellow, Pierre Fauchard Academy, Diplomate, American Academy of Integrated Pain Management, American Dental Educators Association, American Academy of Sleep Medicine, American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine, California Sleep Society, American Association of OralSystemic Health, American Dental and California Dental Associations. He is also a member of Catapult Education and reviews dental products for them.

    Jeff Horowitz DMD FAGD D-ABDSM

    Dr. Horowitz completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Pittsburgh and earned his DMD degree from the Medical University of South Carolina. He completed a general practice residency at the Mountainside Hospital in Montclair, NJ. In 1992, Dr. Horowitz founded the Carolina Center for Cosmetic and Restorative Dentistry, a multi-disciplinary group practice. His main interests are cosmetic smile rehabilitation, complex restorative cases, treatment of sleep disordered breathing, orthodontics and TMJ disorders. An admitted C.E. “Junkie”, Dr. Horowitz has earned fellowship from the AGD where he is actively involved as a past-president and delegate for South Carolina. He serves as a mentor at the Kois Center for Advanced Dental Studies, is a key opinion leader and lecturer for the Catapult Group, and is an instructor for Sleep Group Solutions. His dental affiliations include the Pierre Fauchard Academy, the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, the American Orthodontic Society, the American Dental Association, the American Association of Dental Sleep Medicine, the Carolina Sleep Society, American Equilibration Society, and the American Academy of Craniofacial Pain.
